What a sad, sad story

What a sad, sad story in the New York Times of June 8, 2008. Two couples have written books on how they tried to rekindle their love life by having sex every 24 hours over weeks or months, one for 101 days in a row and the other for a full year.

Is that what American marriage and marital bliss have come to? Why has our society created a world in which marrying age adults don’t know how to cultivate and maintain love and passion, who care more about their favorite television show than they do about their mates?

Are American young people being raised in homes where they never learn from the example of parents who love each other and show it in front of their children, either through touching, kissing hello or goodby or by acts of caring and concern?

No wonder our divorce rates are so high!

Welcome to The Plessner Chronicle —
The improved website for geraldplessner.com!

When I was a young teenager in St. Louis I sold newspapers on a busy street corner. That’s where I began my habit of reading three newspapers every day. (Of course I had the example of my dad and grandfather who both did the same thing.)

Given the trouble that newspapers are having today competing with the Internet, I thought it appropriate that we give our website a newspaper-like name. I wanted to have columns like a newspaper but my website designer Kathy Hernandez told me that wouldn’t be possible.

“Let me take care of that and we’ll see if you like it”, she said.

Well I do like it and I am very proud of her work. We are going to make The Plessner Chronicle as current as possible. There will be a Blog built around my weekly articles, links to like-minded sites, opportunities for readers to write expanded comments about specific issues, a whole section with my Crooks, Creeps and Criminals profiles and a commerce page for when I finely write a book.

There will be a number of additions to the new look over the next few weeks but for now, please use the link below to go to the Blog for this week’s commentary, “THE DISASTER-PER-WEEK PRESIDENT.”

And do let me know what you think!
